Strategic Coffee Creative Reflections
As the morning light filters through the tall windows of Café de Klos, casting a warm glow on the cobblestone street outside, I sit down for coffee with Nathan, my colleague. The gentle hum of conversation and clinking of cups creates an ambiance that’s perfect for thoughtful reflection.
During our conversation, my thoughts revolve around the parallels I’ve discovered between my artistic process and the development of our projects at Eckenrode Muziekopname (EM). As an illustrator and the creator behind the Master Chronicle and The Chronicle of Orbis, I find that the approach I use in these works reflects my creative process for sketching a single page. History, Adventures, Setting, Characters & Narrative—these are the phases I navigate in my art, and they mirror the developmental stages of our book series.
Completing these vital projects is essential for me before I embark on The 13 Towers of Orbis and its subsequent series. This realization has opened up multiple possibilities, enabling me to potentially create a series of manuals for tabletop role-playing games (TTRPG), should we choose not to pursue a narrative series.
As much as I enjoy artistic contemplation, I can’t ignore the reality of business. I need to set up a Stripe account and ensure funds start flowing into it, linking it to our other accounts for seamless financial management. This step won’t just propel EM’s growth; it’s key to moving us out of the red and into profitability—a goal I am fully committed to.
Nathan and I dig deeper into the business aspects, discussing the connectors between important accounts that need to be established for the company’s advancement. I’m determined to get the business off the ground and foster an environment where creativity flourishes alongside financial success.
As our conversation winds down, I find myself reflecting on the intersection of art and commerce in EM’s journey. This morning at Café de Klos reaffirms my conviction that both creativity and strategic planning are essential parts of our growth. Embracing this balance will bring our projects to life and ensure the long-term success of Eckenrode Muziekopname.
In a world where art and commerce often seem at odds, I strive to show how creative vision and business acumen can work together to achieve something remarkable. As EM continues its journey, I remain steadfast in my commitment to nurturing both the artistic process and the financial well-being of our company—a true testament to my role as Chief Creative Officer.
Let’s remember: the fusion of creativity and strategy isn’t just about success; it’s about creating an environment where ideas bloom and flourish, building new worlds, stories, and experiences for everyone to enjoy.
